Shamus Goss is the director of True Hoops, Inc. He has been active in the basketball community for over a decade. Growing up in New York City playing basketball for Riverside Church, Gauchos, Citywide, Rucker and Melbank. Basketball is what he loves coach Goss moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 2002 and took a job at Suwanee Sports Academy with Kevin Cantwell which coached with Bobby Cremmins at Georgia Tech for 16 years. Atlanta is a city full of talent and he is trying to add the missing pieces. “As a kid I didn’t have the things that can be offered to players these days”. Helping these players get to college and make their dreams come True is his goal “True Hoops”.
Shamus has traveled to different coaching clinics & colleges to learn and build relationships so he can teach these young players what they need to play at the next level. It’s great that he has been fortunate to spent some time with some of the best coaches in the game and studied their philosophies. He has taken what he has learned and added his own twists to it. Coaching AAU for several years he has noticed what is missing. He has been coaching with the Georgia Stars for three years and has a good group of Student-Athletes and parents that understand what it takes. We have to get these young men ready for college it’s not about winning. We always go out there to be champions but, when it’s all said and done those trophies can’t be traded in for their scholarship.
True Hoops is one of the fastest growing sports entities on the east coast. Hosting some of the biggest camps, showcases & tournaments. Director Shamus Goss held the biggest Adidas Jr Phenom/ Phenom 150 Regional Camp for grades 6th-11th in the country in New York City March of 2007. Phenom Basketball is one of the top grass roots programs running today. Hosting Exposure camps in over 35 states and the national camp in San Diego, California every summer.
When it comes to fundamentals Coach Goss learns from the best. He has been working with Five Star for several years. Five Star camps are the best teaching camps in the country since 1966. When you think of great players you think Michael Jordan, Dwayne Wade, Moses Malone. Lebron James, Isaiah Thomas, and Carmelo Anthony the list goes on. They all have one thing in common “Five Star” they all been through the system. True Hoops will be hosting the Five Star-Atlanta Camps this summer which is great for Atlanta.
